This model did a fantastic job staying still and getting back into pose after her breaks. I'm pleased over all, except with the face, I ran out of time. Vine charcoal on Canson charcoal paper 18"x24", 3 hour session. I should have another one next Tuesday and I'll try to post some other too. You can see more here.

Illustration Friday: Chicken

I look in my tub on Tuesday after I checked to see what this weeks IF topic was and low and behold I see a chicken and a seal (or fish). I didn't paint these in my tub. My son and daughter had their tub crayons hung up in their little holder and they dripped to form these two shapes.

Completed Poster and Tickets

A recent poster and ticket job for Ignite Promotions that I just completed. They are hosting a Black Light Party at Milly's Tavern on January 22 and they needed posters and tickets for the event. The colors are from traditional "black light posters" so you really get the feel without even reading what the posters say. Once inside the event, the tickets and posters, whose designs mimic each other to create a brand/event unite, will glow under the lights.

This is a pencil drawing painted in photoshop. There are some neat effect that can be created with the tool but i just like to be away from the computer some times. I've tried painting comics digitally too and i love watercolor over ink better. Check some out on my recently updated comics page.

The Billerica Green

Our first issue was printed this week and it looks good. I designed the entire 32-page paper and created most of the ads too. The colors on the cover illustration (that I did) didn't come out as vibrant as I had hoped but we'll fix it on the next issue. Which should be coming out in September. Our web site is also up and running so go check that out too. If you go to "The Playground" section there are a few pages you can download and color in also 12" x 18" posters are available of the cover. 900 Degrees Blackboard Paintings

I finished up a job "painting" 2 6'x4' blackboards for 900 Degree Pizzeria in Manchester. Everyone loved them.

I finished an illustration and thank you card design for my friend Lynda. She was a guess chef at Z Food and Drink in Manchester to raise money for the NH Food Bank. The illustration was done with oil paints on canvas.

Here is a comic that I’ve been working on for a while. My great aunt passed away in April from stomach cancer. She was a huge fan of Seinfeld. Every time we saw each other we would recite shows and talk about how much of a loser George was. So Zizi, I hope you enjoy this comic from up there and we’re sorry we didn’t get a chance to say goodbye before God needed to laugh with you. I hear he’s a Seinfeld fan too.

One time Zizi came to visit see saw this painting and really liked it. It was named “Forest Run” because it looks like a forest and the drips are running. (Very cleaver I know.) It is now titled “Tears for Zizi”. With that said, “Tears for Zizi” is this month’s painting. The sale price is $650 framed and $500 from the sale of this painting will go to Zizi’s church St. Leonard’s in Boston, in her memory.

Little White Building

Here is a watercolor and pen & ink painting. The line quality is varying and exciting and adds movement and focus to the painting. Your eye is drawn to the little white house in the shadows of the green trees. Is the building a bar? Is that were all the local fisherman head after a long morning of fighting the ocean? I'm not sure either but it would make a nice story.

I did a watercolor demonstration on Saturday for a group of about 15 wonderful girls. One of them was turning 105 in June. They were a great bunch and were asking me a lot of questions which made the demonstration even more fun. Here is the finished painting from that demonstration.

To Little Beach

This is going over the hill from Big Beach to Little Beach on Maui. I really enjoy how the subdued lower portion directs your eye to the green foliage and beautiful sand of the beach.
